Laferla Futsal Trophy Final

UM Futsal is set to write another chapter in its proud history as the team prepares to contest the final of the Laferla Futsal Trophy, Malta’s premier knockout competition. The final will be played on Saturday, 31st May at 16:30 at the National Sport School in Pembroke, where UM Futsal will go head-to-head with the experienced side Luxol St. Andrews Futsal.

The journey to the final has been nothing short of spectacular. After a dominant 8-0 victory over Marsaskala in the semi-final—powered by hat-tricks from Steve Camilleri and Cristian Fernández, and goals from Cleaven Portelli and Stefan Vella—UM Futsal earned its place in the final with style and conviction.

Club President Andrea Varrazzo expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating:

“I am incredibly proud of our players. They have shown discipline, heart, and a true fighting spirit throughout the competition. Reaching the final is a testament to their hard work, and they deserve this moment.”

Saturday’s final will mark a significant occasion not only for the players and coaching staff but also for the entire University of Malta community, which continues to rally behind the team. A victory would secure the club’s first KO title in recent years and solidify its position among the elite of Maltese futsal.

As anticipation builds, Head Coach Zvezdan Vuković has called for focus and unity:

“We’ve prepared for this all season. We respect Luxol’s quality, but we trust in our identity, our team spirit, and our game plan. The final is 40 minutes of heart and execution—nothing less.”

Fans are encouraged to attend in numbers and create a vibrant, supportive atmosphere. With the entire UM Futsal family behind them, the team now stands just one game away from lifting the coveted Laferla Futsal Trophy.

Let’s go for glory. See you at the NSS.
